Goodboybob

Goodboybob is the Santa Monica roaster that began as an art project and is named after founder Erich Joiner’s family dog. Joiner runs the production company Tool of North America and races cars professionally, and he opened the first Goodboybob on Broadway in 2017 with the idea of raising the everyday coffee ritual. The current matcha board ranges from straightforward hot and iced lattes to more elaborate signatures. Volcanic Matcha sets vanilla bean cream and volcanic black salt over an iced latte; Yuzu Matcha Tonic brings a bright sparkling edge; and Blueberry Pie Iced Matcha pairs blueberry pie syrup and ceremonial-grade matcha with a cinnamon finish. Coffee is roasted on a Loring S15 Falcon in Torrance and a Loring S35 Kestrel at the Pulley Collective in Los Angeles, with green buying led by Marcus Young, who came to it after a decade of sourcing. Manhattan Beach followed the original in 2021, Venice arrived in July 2026 inside the Deus Ex Machina building, and the brand opened in Hudson, New York the same summer.
