The Scoop
The Temple Street Couplet is the flagship, the rainbow-hued room on the edge of Echo Park and Westlake where Gefen Skolnick's online following finally got somewhere to turn up in person. Ceremonial-grade matcha from Kagoshima, Japan is the house pour, and the bananas-and-cream matcha is the drink we would order first. Single-origin Peruvian beans and the house espresso blend cover the coffee side. This is the room the brand was built around, so the limited-edition drops and the general sense of color land hardest here. It opened in January to a following that had been waiting for it. Echo Park is walkable from here and Laveta is a short way along Glendale Boulevard, which makes a two-cafe morning easy.
